This week is Bisexual Awareness Week, so here is a comic about what being bisexual might mean to bisexuals! Also, some other identities!

This is a really good explanation of the current state of these labels.

This is so good. I freaked out a bit at the first definition of bi because it seemed to mean that bi is exclusive, but I’m so glad they included different definitions

I love this! Also, I just wanted to mention thst queer (which is an excellent catch-all term that I think should absolutely be given some more time in the spotlight) isn’t the only label non-binary people who are only attracted to one gender have to use. For example, a non-binary person whose agab is female and who realized they were attracted solely to women a few years before realizing they weren’t a woman themselves might decide to keep the lesbian label simply because it doesn’t bother them and it’s an easy way to communicate to others who they’re into. Point is, labels are simply about how to describe yourself in a way that gets your message across amd feels like you, and there are lots of ways to do that, none of which is the most ‘right,’ and one label can have many different interpretations.

This comic has been going around a lot this week for some reason. I appreciate the above comment! There could easily be an entire comic just about about how non-binary trans people approach sexual orientation labels. The person in my comic might also use the label gynephilic, which means you are attracted to women (regardless of what your own gender identity is). Here’s a nice academic article about how sexual orientation labels don’t work very well for lots of trans people: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/304531868_The_labels_don’t_work_very_well_Transgender_individuals’_conceptualizations_of_sexual_orientation_and_sexual_identity I also kind of love all the reblog comments about how my art looks unnerving or like a parody. I do not actually enjoy drawing, I just love comics. If you are a good artist and want to collaborate, hit me up.

Some informative bi humor for the awesome FYBG followers.

Inspiration for the idea: http://manslator.tumblr.com and from a lovely conversation over drinks this weekend with http://bigeorgeivegotit.tumblr.com

Cool, just call me a pull out couch. I’m cool with that ;)

There have been a couple people saying they’re getting our couch comic made into a tattoo. If you did, send pictures! ❤ it would be amazing to see and reblog them!

Whether you believe bisexuality was inclusive of nonbinary people in the 1960s, or whatever the latest debate is, the fact is that the bi community has spent the majority of the last decade trying to make it clear that bisexual means or should mean much more than just “attraction to men and women”, and there has been very, very little push back from within the bi community. The general consensus is that the word “bisexual” should be infinitely broad and inclusive, no matter what the etymological root is. Bisexuals do not want “bisexual” to be limited.

The only people desperately trying to reinforce the idea that “bisexual means 2 genders” are people who do not identify as bisexual.

Bisexual men most definitely exist.

A clear and cogent explanation of the controversies surrounding the 2005 Bailey study about whether bisexual men truly exist.
Spoiler alert: It’s 2020 and we know that they did, and they do.
Great quotes from my amazing friend Lauren Beach, and from Corey Flanders, who I don’t know yet but would like to.
